GRECO DI TUFO (DOC)

HISTORY
The more vine' ancient some avellinese is without doubt the Greek of Tufo, from which the homonym is drawn wine, imported by the Greek region of the Tessaglia by the Pelasgis. The confirmation of the millennial origin of this grapevine and' given by the recovery to Pompeii of a fresco that goes up again to almost one century before Christ, with a brief poetry, probably of a lover rejected: "You are really icy, Bice, and of ice, if last night not even the Greek wine and' succeeded in heating you."
The province of Avellino, among the other legends, it is able' to also boast that of a miracle of the wine: to Bonito, it seems that S. Guglielmo of Vercelli has changed the water in wine emulating the miracle of the Wedding of Cana.
The cultivation of the Greek vine was initially diffused on the slopes of the Vesuvius, from where produced wine assumed the name of Lacryma Christi, and subsequently in other zones in the province of Avellino where taken the denomination of Greek of Tufo.
This wine of great personality' it opposes with the wild nature of the Irpinia, almost to compensate the natural gentleness of the inhabitants, that with love and simplicity' you/they have turned the region into one of the more centers' sought after of the Italian wine-growing.
